Primordial Gods

General Lore: A triumvirate of deities who once were a single being who ripped itself apart to create the first gods and worlds of the cosmos. 

  • Azathoth

Azathoth: God of Darkness & Master of the Void

Description: The void in which all the planets of the cosmos exist, Azathoth is the formless mass of darkness which can twist itself into any shape it desires. His true form is a series of fleshy intestinal tubes surrounding a mass of internal organs. He has appeared before as a giant black spider with a red hourglass on its spinneret, an old man in a black cloak with a feral grin, a black hound with red eyes and black jaguar with golden eyes. His most infamous form is that of writhing mass of black appendages squirming from a central inky mass that constantly squelches as its shape shifts from one to the next.

Abilities: Azathoth can control the essence of the void. He can shape darkness into new creatures, use it to destroy his enemies or shield himself in swathes of impenetrable shadow. He can also imbue the spirits of the dead with portions of his aspect to create new gods. As master of the Void Azathoth can appear anywhere there is darkness and is unable to be permanently slain.

Hexes: His followers gain the power to control darkness or to summon the creatures who dwell in the abyss but many are consumed by either for delving too deep into such abyssal energies. They can use bands of darkness to constrict their foes or spikes of darkness kill them along with numerous other applications. They can curse their foes to steal their strength, speed and vitality or blind and cripple victims.

Lore: Azathoth is the entity responsible for creating the canvas on which the universe could be created. He is the formless darkness that continues to constantly expand and grow in strength. He is responsible for the creation of the outer worlds and gods whether directly or indirectly. Azathoth penned the Pseudomonarchia Daemonum, a tome containing instructions on how to contact the various entities of the abyss creating the school of black magic known as diabolism.

Elohim: God of Light and Lord of the Great Crystal

Elohim

Description: Elohim’s physical body cannot be glimpsed by mortals or even celestials, as the giant crystal blazing in the center of the cosmos his light is so powerful that it can even blind mortals who gaze up at him from their worlds. He can manifest into any mortal guise so many speak to him without realizing they ever have done so. His avatar that is widely recognized across the cosmos is that of a twelve winged humanoid over 15 ft in height, with a highly muscular body, bronze skin and golden eyes with braided locks of black hair.

​

Abilities: Elohim can bend the light emanating from his crystalline core, directing it wherever he desires. He can harness the power from the crystal to unleash devastating beams of light or destructive supernovae. He can convert the light into living and inert objects of his design and can heal any wound or cure any ailment.

​

Blessings: Elohim allows his followers to banish away spirits and creatures of the abyss. They can summon blinding flashes of light or superheated beams to sear and destroy their foes. They can also draw upon his divine powers to heal wounds and cure curses.

​

Lore: Either directly or indirectly responsible for all the life in the inner circle of the cosmos. The first five elder Gods were sundered from his core during Elohim’s first and final battle with Azathoth. Created the garden world of Eden and helped create Dudael along with Azathoth. Created a race of winged celestials known as Angels who act as Guardians for the Inner Worlds.

Veles-God of Death & Shadow

Description: Veles appears as a skeletal figure but with the head and wings of raven. A cloak of black raven feathers covers most of his skeletal frame. He carries a scythe made of pure, solidified darkness imbued with the primal essence of death.

​

Abilities: Veles can twist the souls of the dead into new creations and is responsible for creating the most types of undead in Saol. Veles can manipulate the darkness like Azathoth but also kill with a simple touch or look. He can increase his own speed or decrease the speed of his foes and can manipulate time to a small degree, he can slow down time, reverse events that recently occurred, or look into the future.

​

Curses: His followers can use words or a touch to kill or create bolts of negative energy to harm their foes. They can increase their own speed or decrease the speed of their victims. They can summon undead minions or create spears of bone to defend or attack.

​

Lore: Responsible for creating both the Light and Darkness, Veles was once the singular being who walked the barren grey expanse that existed before the cosmos. He rules over the realm of Lukomorye, a shadowy world that shifts from scenes of great violence and tragedy. Veles is responsible for creating ravens and crows who act as his emissaries across the corporeal worlds as well as the most powerful types of undead found in Saol.
